Pre-Appointment Instructions
Pre-care compliance is important and required to achieve optimum healed results.
Permanent makeup procedures can NOT be performed if you are pregnant or nursing. Absolutely NO exceptions.
Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided at least 12 hours prior to your procedure. The longer you avoid consumption prior to your procedure the better.
If it is advisable by your doctor, please avoid multi-vitamins, vitamin E, fish oils/omegas, aspirin and ibuprofen 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
Avoid chemical peels for at least 60 days prior to your procedure.
Use of Accutane must be discontinued for a minimum of one year prior to any permanent makeup procedure.
Avoid increased sun exposure/tanning prior to your procedure and during the healing process. Excess sun exposure and tanned skin can affect the color from implanting correctly. Please keep this in mind when you are scheduling your procedure.
Discontinue the use of any skin care products containing hydroxy acids or lightening ingredients at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure. Products containing retinol MUST be discontinued for at least 3 months prior to your procedure.
If you don’t have it already, please purchase a bottle of fragrance-free baby wash or facial cleanser for sensitive skin to cleanse your procedure area during the healing process. I will provide you with your aftercare ointment.
Eyebrows
Because your eyebrows will be designed specifically for you, it’s best to let your natural eyebrow hair grow for about 2 weeks prior to your procedure. Your natural hair growth will allow more flexibility when designing eyebrows that best suit your face and natural bone structure.
If you wax or thread your eyebrows, it should be done at least 48 hours prior to your procedure.
Lips
One week prior to your procedure, gently exfoliate your lips using your toothbrush.
It is important to contact your doctor if you have a history of cold sores/herpes simplex or fever blisters to obtain the proper medication to help prevent any new breakouts. Lip procedures can activate and spread the virus through the worked lip area. Medications will not guarantee that an outbreak will not occur it is only a preventative measure.
Eyebrow Aftercare
Wash
Wash your eyebrows 2 times on the day of your procedure and one time per day the following days until healing is complete. Use fragrance-free baby wash or facial cleanser for sensitive skin. Gently, using only your fingertips wash your eyebrows. Cup water in your hands and splash to rinse. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and let them air dry for 5 to 10 minutes before applying your aftercare ointment. When showering, try to keep your face dry until you are ready to wash your eyebrows.
Moisturize
On a new cotton swab, apply a small amount of healing ointment and apply a very thin layer to both eyebrows. Dryer skin may require additional aftercare ointment throughout the day. Only apply extra if your eyebrows feel dry or tight. Continue this daily until the flaking/exfoliation phase is complete. Most clients heal in about 7 days, but some may need aftercare ointment for up to 14 days.
Avoid
Until the flaking/exfoliation phase is complete, apply makeup around the tattooed area NOT over, direct water pressure, hot water on tattoo area, activities involving dirt, dust or dander, pets that may scratch, submerging your face in water (pools, hot tub, lake, ocean etc.) saunas or long steamy showers. NO picking, peeling or scratching, Botox or facial treatments for 30 days.
Additional things to know
To avoid degradation of color, direct sunlight and tanning beds should be avoided as both are damaging to the skin. If using any skin care products containing chemicals, acids, exfoliators, retinol, benzoyl peroxide etc., go around your eyebrows.
